If ordinary nylon collars fray on your dog, try this one. American Dog makes it from the polyester webbing used for car seatbelts, folded and sewn into a doubled 1-inch strap, then fits it with a brass buckle, brass grommets, and two brass D-rings for tags and the leash. The webbing is UV treated, and American Dog says it won't shrink, rot, or mildew.

Measure around your dog's neck where the collar sits and leave room for two fingers. The sizes overlap, so if you land in two, pick the one where your number falls mid-range. It's a full inch wide even in Small, so on a little dog it looks substantial rather than dainty. Like any buckle collar, take it off for unsupervised crate time. A handsome everyday collar for a dog who's hard on gear.
