A sniffing game and a fetch kit in one. The SnuffleSphere is an 8" ball of dense, shaggy fleece, colored like a little globe, with three hidden pockets. Tuck a few pieces of kibble into a pocket, push one of the three rubber critter balls in on top, and let your dog nose and paw them back out. Once the balls are free they squeak, bounce, and float, so the game can move to the yard or the lake. It's a bigger version of the idea behind our Snuggle and Zoom Sloth: three pockets and three balls instead of one.

  • Fleece ball: about 8" across, HuggleFleece synthetic lambswool, three hidden pockets, no squeaker
  • Three Ruff-Tex balls in natural latex: a penguin and a tiger (about 2.5" each) and a turtle (about 2.5" wide, 2.1" tall)
  • Each ball squeaks, bounces, and floats
  • Made overseas for HuggleHounds, a US company

The balls are a little smaller than a tennis ball, so with large dogs keep them to supervised play and put them away afterward. They're natural latex, so skip this one if anyone at home has a latex allergy. It's a play toy, not a chew toy: supervise, and retire any piece that's torn. For a dog who loves to sniff things out, it makes a good rainy-day game.

From our guides How to match a toy to the way your dog chews

Sizing

Fleece ball: about 8 in across.
Ruff-Tex balls: penguin and tiger about 2.5 in; turtle about 2.5 in wide and 2.1 in tall. A little smaller than a tennis ball, so large dogs should use them for supervised play only.
HuggleHounds gives no dog-size range.

Care

Shake out crumbs after each treat game and spot clean the fleece.
Wash the latex balls in warm, soapy water and let them dry.
Supervise play and retire any piece that's torn. The balls contain natural latex.
